Calling Cards

Calling cards is a tarot based conversational tabletop-roleplaying game where you play family members communicating via tarot cards from different places in the multiverse. This game is heavily inspired by the Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny.

Players pull a tarot court card and describe the character contained within. If playing with others your description becomes the character they play. If you are playing solo, your description is the character you are talking with. In a multiplayer games, all characters engage in a conversation as if they were talking via the cards. (Think a fantasy style zoom/video call!)

As you play you can add complications to the story by pulling additional cards, including cards from the Major Arcana that represent other creatures, objects, or people in the multiverse. These conversations can be used as a worldbuilding tool for other tabletop roleplaying adventures or can be a fun new way to play a rules light storytelling game.

We are planning an Itch-funding round with the goal of paying our artist to make a full set of tarot cards for our game. In this version we are primarily using the Rider Waite Smith cards drawn by Pamela Colman Smith
